KSPT professor awarded doctoral scholarship

Professor Anne Meija-DownsAnne Mejia-Downs, an associate professor in the University of Indianapolis Krannert School of Physical Therapy, was recently awarded a scholarship from the Education section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The “Adopt-a-Doc” scholarship fund exists to help physical therapists in pursuit of doctoral degrees.

Mejia-Downs is pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Wellness from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. In addition to her focus on health promotion and wellness, she has expertise in cardiopulmonary physical therapy and patient management in the intensive care setting. Her Ph.D. dissertation is titled “Effects of an Intervention to Enhance Resilience in Physical Therapy Students.”

The scholarship will be presented to Mejia-Downs at the Combined Sections Meeting of the APTA later this month in Anaheim, California.
